This is known as fissured pine and has distinctive Championed by artists and bonsai aficionados for centuries, this distinctive Pine spotlights pairs of nearly white new growth, thick rigid needles, corky purplish black bark, and stout twisting horizontal branches that can sustain just about any amount of pruning or trimming. Mikawa’s rugged naturally dwarfed trunk crafts an exquisite bonsai specimen, while acquiescing to container culture, salt spray and poor sandy soil. Grows very slowly.

This species of Japanese black pine is a great candidate for bonsai growing from seeds. Parents tend to produce a fairly stable genetic that reproduce itself always when grown from seeds.

This Japanese black pine will produced a deeply fissured scaly bark as the plants attain age. It also produce a foliage that is greener than usual.

More commonly known as the Japanese Black Pine, this pine species is a favourite among bonsai enthusiasts and artists alike for a number of years. This species has thick firm needles, the eye-catching couple of growth that is white in color and also has a bark that is a blackish shade of purple. Its branches that lie horizontally can be pruned countless times and its small trunk makes it ideal to be used for a bonsai sample. This can be grown quite easily from its seeds. As the plant matures, the bark tends to get fissures and scales. However it has been found that this species takes quite some time to grow.
