This classic poppy produce gorgeous violet colored flowers with dark centers. It is the closest to the wild type of moon poppies and because it is less domesticated, it is hardier than other varieties. Its pods are also more oval-shaped, smaller, and darker than those of other poppy varieties. The pods are excellent for creating dried flower arrangements, and the slate blue seeds taken from the pod can be used in both baking and middle-eastern cooking. The plants grow to between 3 to 4 feet high and are easy from seed.
